STAFFORDSHIRE RIGS GROUP
Membership/Structure
Established in 1995 (as an offshoot of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust?) Has an executive committee and a RIGS assessment panel with 10 voluntary staff and 9 active members
Governance
Data held: RIGS data is held on GeoConservation database within the Staffordshire Ecological Record (SER), housed at Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
Key Functions
The objectives of the SRIGS Group are:
- To identify and survey geological and geomorphological sites in Staffordshire (Covers Staffordshire administrative county, including part of Peak Park.)
- To promote the establishment and protection of RIGS locations, LGAP launched 2004
- To co-ordinate the activities of all organisations involved in the conservation of RIGS sites in Staffordshire
- To maintain and enhance the geoconservation database, compatible with the UKRIGS
